Burned by a web agency before?

Your website and software, in your name from day one.

We start with your website, then the software behind it, with the domain and hosting in your own accounts. Fixed price, usually live in weeks, not months.

      Questions we'd ask too

Every question we get asked, answered honestly. If yours isn't here, ask us on the call.

If it's on your mind, it's probably in here.

      How much does it cost?

Honestly, we can't give you a real number until we know what you need, because a five page website and an ordering system with a kitchen screen are completely different builds. So we start with one call, and after that you get a fixed price in writing. Not hourly, and not an estimate that grows as we go. If you want a feel for it first, the budget question at the top of this page shows the ranges we work in.

Wix or Squarespace is cheaper. Why wouldn't I just do it myself?

It sounds like you'd rather not spend money on something you could probably do yourself, and that's fair, a lot of people start there and some should stay there. Where it usually stops working is when you need the site to actually do something for your business, like text you a quote request or take a booking and a payment, and the builder has no setting for it. So the way we see it, the real question is, what is the one thing you need your website to do that it can't do right now? If the answer is nothing, keep your Wix site.

I've been burned by a web agency before. Why would this be any different?

It sounds like you paid for something, waited longer than you were told, and then had to chase someone to get your own site back. Honestly, that's the most common story we hear, and in your position we'd be wary of us too. So instead of asking you to trust us, everything is set up so you don't have to. Your website, code and domain sit in your own accounts from day one. And while we're building, if we go quiet on you for 5 continuous business days without prior notice from us, you keep everything and you owe us nothing. It's in the contract. What would need to be true for you to feel safe trying again?

What if you go quiet once you have my money?

It depends on where we are, so here are both. While we're building, if we go quiet on you for 5 continuous business days without prior notice from us, you keep everything and you owe us nothing. It's in the contract. Once your site is live, you've already paid for the build and it's already yours, so the promise is about support instead. A real person replies within 4 business hours, or within 1 hour if your site is down, in Australian business hours (AEST). If we miss that, 10% comes off your next bill for every 2 hours we're late, up to the whole bill. And because the hosting and admin email are in your name, if you ever want to walk away, you change the password and go.

Who owns the website and the domain?

You do, from day one. Your website, your code and your domain are in your name and your accounts, not ours. We do keep a few reusable building blocks of our own that we use across projects, and you get a free licence to use them inside your build forever, so there is nothing we can ever switch off or take back.

      How long does it take?

Usually weeks, not months. You get a delivery date in writing, and if we're late, 5% comes off the build fee for every week we're late, up to 25%. The only time that clock pauses is when we're waiting on something from you, and we tell you about that at the start so there are no surprises.

What happens after it goes live?

We stay on. The first 30 days of support are free, and that covers bugs, breakages, and content and copy changes. New pages and new features are quoted separately at a fixed price, and after the 30 days any ongoing support is agreed with you in writing.

I need to take this to our committee or board. Can you help?

Yes, and we know how that goes, because the person who finds us is usually not the only one who decides. After the call we send you a written summary with the fixed price, what's included and what happens if we don't deliver, so you can forward it as it is. If it helps, we're happy to join a video call with your committee and answer their questions directly.
